Instead of depicting black swans or scenes of dystopia, “Insidious” is a theme I have decided to re-visit in my current artwork made for the “Apocalyptic” exhibit, an online show at Viridian Artists, INC.
The pervasive presence of the virus is represented by the pretty, domestic, wallpaper-like pattern of COVID-19 virus symbols in the background surrounding the young and old hands, referring to how benign environments can hide this sinister virus.
Stealthy, cunning and insidious is the nature of COVID-19 as expressed by these metaphorical mixed media drawings that depict kindly young hands reaching out to elderly hands with the intention to comfort and love, but only unknowingly and tragically, transmit disease and death.
